About the Artists:
LUCY GILLESPIE (Playwright) is a 24 year-old Anglo-American writer and performer. Hangman School for Girls is her first full-length play. Her second play, The Atwater Project (working title) is a fictionalized study into the demise of bogeyman politician Lee Atwater and is currently in development with terraNOVA Collective’s Groundbreakers Program. Lucy has written a novella, The Pith and the Peel, about a woman who kills and eats her husband, as well as several short stories. She holds a BA from Northwestern University in Theater and Fiction Writing, and has studied under Stuart Dybek, Sheila Donohue, Madeleine George, Colman Domingo, and Laura Schellhardt. While at Northwestern, she served as Literary Manager for Vertigo Productions, a student theater company with a focus on original works which produced such writers as Emily Chaddick Weiss (YoungBlood), and Matt Sax (Clay, recently produced by LCT3).
LETA TREMBLAY (Director) is a director and stage manager currently residing in New York City. In her directing work, she specializes in stylized movement with bold, simple visual and auditory elements. Recent NY directing credits include The City That Cried Wolf (59E59 Theaters), 365 Days/365 Plays (FullStop Collective), and 10 Plates (ExPgirl, AD). She also staged a full production of Machinal by Sophie Treadwell as her senior thesis while attending Smith College. As a stage manager, Leta works with many NYC theaters and companies including HERE Arts Center, Cherry Lane Theatre, The Chocolate Factory, NAATCO, and ExPgirl (company member). She is a founding member and Director of Production of FullStop Collective. Leta has trained at the Eugene O'Neill National Theater Institute, with the Wooster Group, and with the SITI Company
